Still carrying it's original (& valuable) UK registration from July 1960, this Frogeye has one of the best original bodyshells we have seen for many years, and is one of the quickest road cars too. The performance is amazing…and getting even better as we work on it.
Finished in red with black trim, it will have been comprehensively serviced by ourselves before despatch and comes with an MoT until mid August 2012.
The specification includes a modified and up-rated 1098cc engine with 1275cc cylinder head and larger (1 ¼”) SU carbs. Oil pressure is a very healthy 80psi.
Other extras include disc brakes, anti roll bar, electric washers, alloy rocker box, virtually new front bumper assembly.
It has a new hood and tonneau cover with very good sidescreens.
The car is ready to drive away...and Spring is not far away!

Frogeye for sale

Built in March 1960 this Frogeye has only had 4 owners from new. Off the road from 1979 to the late 1990’s it was then professionally and comprehensively restored with many new panels including floors, sills, ‘A’ posts, spring boxes etc to provide the solid ,all steel bodywork now in place. We have a photographic record of this work on file, together with all MoT’s since it returned to the road.
It has the correct 948cc engine and ‘smoothcase’ gearbox (both factory reconditioned units) with rebuilt 1 1/8” brass topped SU carbs. Brakes and suspension are to the original factory specification and the car also includes some very rare ‘BMC’ seat belts.
We are in the process of a comprehensive ‘nut and bolt’ service and some other detailed improvements before release for sale.
Although currently trimmed in black we are happy to consider a full re-trim in red if this suits a prospective purchaser.

Frogeye for sale

Built in July 1960, this Frogeye comes with a very comprehensive history file of old invoices, MoT certificates, photos of it’s restoration in the early 1990’s, and two charming and informative letters from previous owners. In addition the Heritage Certificate shows it was originally sold via Carey & Lambert Ltd. in Southampton.
The professional restoration (about 20 years ago) was comprehensive and included new floors, inner and outer sills, A posts, rear wings and more. Although still solid, the paintwork is now looking ‘tired’ and we are planning to strip it to a rolling shell, for inspection and re-spray in Old English White again.
Mechanically it has more recently been fitted with a ‘fast road’ 948cc engine with uprated camshaft, modified (and ‘unleaded’) cylinder head, lightened and balanced flywheel, larger (1 ¼”) SU carbs. & 3 branch exhaust manifold. Further upgrades include front disc brakes and wire wheels.
This is a quicker than average Frogeye that will be back to as restored condition before sale. There is the opportunity to influence the final build specification if we are contacted early enough.

Frogeye before restoration

First registered in Oct 1960, this Frogeye was with one owner for more than 25 years. It has now been stripped to a bare rolling shell for total restoration and conversion to a replica Sebring Sprite fastback coupé similar to the library photo shown. The mechanical specification is planned to include a 100bhp 1330cc ‘fast road’ engine, wire wheels, disc brakes and uprated suspension. It can also be built up as a race car (also road legal if required) with a choice of engine capacity and power output, together with full roll cage; extinguisher system and other parts as required by the particular series in which it may be run. Please call us to discuss.

It has the correct 948cc engine which was fully rebuilt only a few years ago and has been converted to run on unleaded fuel. It includes the correct 1 1/8” S.U.’s and dynamo driven rev counter and has the benefit of a ‘free flow’ exhaust manifold and stainless steel exhaust system. The uprated gearbox has the later / improved ‘1098’ internals in the original ‘smoothcase’ housing. Both engine and gearbox are sprayed the correct shade of BMC Green.
Extra equipment includes new wire wheels / tyres, plus inertia reel seat belts and sports mirrors.
